EC issue show cause notice to BJP's Abhijit Gangopadhyay over remarks against CM
A shocking case of kidnapping and subsequent murder has been brought to light in the South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal.
The victim, a young man, was allegedly abducted due to his inability to pay a ransom of 50 lakhs. The victim's family had been receiving threatening phone calls while the young man remained missing. The police successfully apprehended the suspect, leading to the recovery of the victim's body.
The victim, identified as 33-year-old Vijaykrishna Kayal, resided in Jamtala within the jurisdiction of the Kultali police station. His father is a businessman. Vijaykrishna left home on the 17th of last month but did not return. CCTV footage showed him abandoning his motorcycle near his house and proceeding on foot. According to the family, Vijaykrishna received a call that night from his own phone, demanding a ransom of 50 lakh rupees.
The investigation took a significant turn on June 8 when the police apprehended Tanmay Mandal, a resident of Palerchak village in the local Jalaberia No. 1 Gram Panchayat. During questioning, Tanmay confessed to the murder. As per the information obtained from the accused, the police were able to locate the victim's body.
